There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with the action coming from Doncaster, Chester, Bath, Lingfield and Musselburgh.  The main event is the final Classic of the flat season with the St Leger from Doncaster and they have really pushed the boat out with over £1 million in prize money up for grabs across their card.  Good as that sounds, Leopardstown have over £2 million on offer for their Irish Champion Stakes card!  Ryan Moore, Frankie Dettori and William Buick have all decided to go to Ireland to compete.

The Irish Champion Stakes takes place at 6.45pm and the winner picks up a cool £712,500.  Minding is the favourite and Ryan Moore has probably already worked out his percentage!  Meanwhile William Buick will be riding in the 3.10pm race at Donny before flying across to Ireland - his mounts must be quite well-fancied!

There was a strange incident yesterday at Sandown when a golf ball knocked jockey Kieren Fox off his horse yesterday.  The ball ricocheted off the helmet of fellow jockey Charlie Bennett before causing chaos.  You would have thought that Charlie could have shouted 'Fore!'...you golfers will know what I mean.  I can remember finding golf balls on track at Newbury - there are quite a lot of tracks that golf courses in the middle of them but this is the first incident of it's kind that I can recall.

How can a gamble go so badly wrong?  Quixote was backed from 14/1 down to 2/1 favourite yesterday at Sandown before finishing last for Tony Carroll and jockey Fran Berry.  I bet there were some questions asked at the post-race debrief!  I bet there were a few burned fingers too!

What a game today on Sky Sports at 12.30pm as Manchester United take on Manchester City.  City look like a big price at 5/2 - it will be interesting to see how managers Mourinho and Guardiola respond. Both are colourful characters and lively on the touchline!
