Long Trip Ahead

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action coming from Ayr, Yarmouth, Pontefract and Chelmsford City.  David has no runners today with our next racecourse representative coming tomorrow on the flat at Ayr as Impulsive American will contest the two mile handicap under championship leader Jim Crowley - he will make the long trip up today.  Meanwhile, over in Ireland Tom Scu was out of luck yesterday in the Kerry National, although he finished a creditable third aboard Gas Line Boy and his percentage should cover his travel expenses.

The Kerry National was won by conditional jockey Lisa O'Neill aboard Wrath Of Titans who carried just 9-3.  She gave him a great hold-up ride and there is a nice picture of her on the front of the Racing Post getting a kiss from trainer Gordon Elliott...if she had known that was going to happen, she would probably have got beaten!

I see that trainer Richard Hannon was fined £80 for not having an identity card at Sandown yesterday and he had to be issued with an emergency pass.  I had a similar thing happen to me at Aintree a few years ago when the photograph on my pass was eight years out of date.  Fortunately I still had the same youthful look about me and was able to convince course officials that I was the person pictured!

Manchester City won 4-0 in their Champions League match yesterday, while there was a great result for Leicester as they won 3-0 away to Brugge...it will get harder for them!  Tottenham Hotspur attracted a record crowd of 85,011 people to their match against Monaco but were unable to get the result the crowd wanted as they lost 2-1 - not such a good night for the fans.

Outspoken Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has stated that he does not want to be in the Europa League as it could stop him from winning the Premiership.  I would have thought that his defense will stop him winning the Premier League!  I wonder what sort of team he will turn out against Feyenoord tonight?  If he doesn't put out too many reserves I will be having a little bet on United at 19/20, although I will be making sure I see his squad first.  It is on BT Sport 3 at 6pm.
