What an amazing performance from the versatile and tough Impulsive American to win on the level at Ayr yesterday. It was only six weeks ago that he was competing over hurdles and fences at Perth! He never seems to run a bad race under any code and probably wants better ground than this to boot. He was given a good ride by jockey Jim Crowley and it is easy to see why he is favourite to land this season's jockey's championship. The Racing Post are also complimentary in their write-up of the race and say that our four year old 'must be a pleasure to own', not like Celtic, hey Sean?!
There are five meetings taking place this afternoon and they all come on the flat with action from Ayr, Newbury, Newmarket, Catterick and Wolverhampton. The most tricky races appear to be at Ayr with the card including the Ayr Gold Cup at 3.45pm and the Ayr Silver Cup, both 25 runner handicaps over six furlongs. If you can manage to go through the card there you may wish to consider buying a lottery ticket tonight! Flying Pursuit might be worth an interest in the big one at odds of around 18/1.
We have one runner on the flat today as Low Key (who we pictured yesterday getting a wash down after exercise) bids to make it back-to-back victories in the Cesarewitch Trial at Newmarket. It is a big ask from an 8lbs higher mark but he did win well twelve months ago and jockey Pat Cosgrave is a good booking. Fingers crossed for a repeat!
I see that loud-mouthed orange presenter Matt Chapman is the latest to get a job on ITV's racing coverage. He is going to be the face of the betting ring...I wonder how long it will be before he upsets somebody?! For all that, I think he is just what the ITV team needs - someone to stir it up a bit.
What a crowd turned up for the racing at Listowel with over 29,000 in attendance - the Irish certainly do love their racing.

I see that David is now selling his brochure about the Pond House team for the 2016/17 season. I have a copy already and it is a great book with loads of interesting stuff about the stable, the people involved and of course, information about all of the horses at the yard. They are £10 each (including post and packaging) and payment can be made via cash, cheque or Paypal. Forward your orders to Pond House, Nicholashayne, Wellington, Somerset, TA21 9QY, or if you are paying by Paypal drop us an e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Better still, I see that David is making a contribution to the local air ambulance from the proceeds of every sale so you are supporting a great cause too!

I watched the football between Chelsea and Liverpool last night and much as I hate to say it, I thought that Liverpool were outstanding in the first half before going on to win 2-1. If they can keep this form up they would have a great chance of winning the Premier League. I love manager Jurgen Klopp's celebrations - he looks as fit as they players when he runs onto the pitch at the end of the match. Today I am going to have a cheeky little double on Everton at 7/10 and Leicester at 4/7.
I was watching the Davis Cup tennis yesterday but only managed to see the first 5 hours and 7 minutes! It was one of the best matches that I have ever seen - the only trouble is that Andy Murray lost, so it looks as though Britain are on their way out of the Cup at 2-0 down...and we were the holders!
