There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Newmarket, Pontefract and Chelmsford City while over the jumps there is a tasty looking card from Perth.  David has three runners; Moon Racer, Impulsive American and What A Moment.  Moon Racer (pictured above) makes his much anticipated hurdles debut in the novices' contest at 3.20pm where he takes on Ballyandy, who like Moon Racer, won the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival.  These are probably the two best novices' ever to run at Perth and I reckon it is going to put a few people on the door.  It should be an exciting race, but hopefully Moon Racer will be able to come out on top on his way to better things.

Meanwhile Impulsive American bids to follow-up his flat success at Ayr last week in the novices' chase at 4.25pm.  What an amazing horse he is, with our four year old winning three times on the flat, three times over hurdles and twice over fences since joining the stable.  He looks to have Flying Angel to beat today.  Towcester bumper winner What A Moment is yet to fulfill the promise of that initial success despite running with promise, but this three miles looks likely to suit.  Ballymalin from the Twiston-Davies stable seems to be the one to aim at.  Tom Scudamore is aboard all three of our runners on what promises to be an exciting day.

Talking of Tom Scu, he gave Mango Cap (pictured below) a peach of a ride to land the three mile handicap hurdle yesterday.  He saw the longer trip out well and I wouldn't be surprised if he were suited by more testing ground.  Perhaps it is the Scottish air?  It certainly seems to do the trick for another of part-owner Sean Tracey's horses, Impulsive American!

My little football treble came to fruition last night, so I hope a few of you followed me in.  West Ham left it late mind you, with Payet scoring in the sixth minute of injury time.  You always need a bit of luck and I had my share last night.  Meanwhile Manchester United won 3-1 away from home last night and despite that, they are still getting stick from the newspapers.  Rooney was terrible again and his days look numbered at Old Trafford - I reckon it is only a matter of time before he is dropped.  Surely Marcus Rashford has to play every week from the start?

Do they not feed rugby players?  Chris Ashton has been banned for 13 weeks having sunk his teeth into Northampton prop Alex Waller.  Do you remember Luis Suarez doing something similar during his time with Liverpool?  I wonder what makes somebody bite someone else?  I bet Ashton had a right ear-bashing from his team mates.

Stephen Maguire continues in electrifying form in the Shanghai Masters snooker.  He beat former world champion Shaun Murphy 5-0 last night and will now take some stopping against Barry Hawkins.
