Today we have three meetings taking place with flat action from Bath and Hamilton (who have survived an early morning inspection), while there is a jumps fixture from Newton Abbot. They must have had quite a lot of the wet stuff at Hamilton as the ground is already officially given as heavy so there are bound to be some strange results. It sounds obvious, but don't forget if you are contemplating a wager, you are going to need a horse that handles conditions. Looking at the Newton Abbot card I see there are a couple of disappointing turnouts with two three runner races. The ground is good/soft, very much what you would expect for the time of year so I wonder what the problem is? Perhaps they are not putting on the right sort of races, or maybe there is just too much racing?

I'm not sure we will ever find out the answer. Tom Scudamore has just one ride at Newton Abbot and that is for his brother Michael aboard former Cheltenham Festival winner Next Sensation. His form figures FP4F hardly inspire confidence but he has dropped to a good mark and looks to hold solid claims.

I see that there is an investigation into bets that were laid on Betfair on Faugheen for last season's Champion Hurdle prior to his defection. The punters have not been paid any money about the outcome so it will be interesting to see what happens. I can't understand why people back horses that drift so alarmingly - there isn't usually smoke without fire.

I don't want to talk about football this morning! It's amazing how many texts I get after the mighty Hammers have had a poor result - yes, I have had loads of texts this season! Fortunately from a punting point of view, at least my double came up and we can eat again for a few days!

There was a ding dong battle in the final of the Shanghai Masters snooker as Ding Junhui beat world champion and world number one Mark Selby 10-6. It was a good win for Ding who is now number 9 in the world.

I see that Tyson Fury's uncle and trainer Peter Fury has confirmed that he needs help. The champ is seeking medical assistance as he is at an all-time low. Fury has always been a volatile character but never like this. IBF champion Anthony Joshua has offered to face Klitschko should Fury be stripped of his titles...Joshua would win this one.

I think my neighbour is stalking me. I caught her looking at my Wikipedia page last night through my telescope!
