There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Ascot and Newcastle while there is jumping action from Fontwell and Hexham.  David has one runner today with Purple 'N Gold (pictured above) running in the 2m1 1/2f handicap chase at Fontwell at 4.10pm.  He should love the good ground and is not unfeasibly treated from a handicap mark of 132 having won from 130 in the past.  He should be thereabouts under stable jockey Tom Scudamore.

I was scanning through the Hexham card quickly this morning and I noticed that champion jockey Richard Johnson is making the long trip for one ride aboard Mad Money in the 4.45pm race - I think the 'one ride' theory could reap rewards today.

You would not have wanted to be a bookmaker at Newcastle yesterday after the first six favourites all obliged, while Qaffaal was backed in from double figures to 10/3.  Do I feel sorry for them?  What do you think?!

David played host to a group of people from the Country Landowners Association yesterday and they had a good time visiting the gallops and having a tour of the stable, while one or two of them were game enough for the obligatory go on our equicisor!

Everton take on Crystal Palace tonight at 8pm on Sky Sports and I will be having a little investment on Everton at 3/4.  I am sure there will be plenty of goals so it should be an entertaining game.

Meanwhile temporary England manager Gareth Southgate has stated that Wayne Rooney will remain as the England skipper - he obviously wants England to play at a slow pace!  Manchester United have looked a lot quicker without Rooney...surely Southgate would have noticed that

The Ryder Cup starts this afternoon and it has now turned into one of the biggest sporting events in the world.  Rory McIlroy is available to back at 4/1 to be the top European points scorer while Matt Kucher is 10/1 to be the top American points scorer - I will be having a little bit on each of those to give me an interest.  Apparently the greens are very quick.

Wow!  I have just seen how much Sir Alex Ferguson charges for a personal appearance for corporate events...it is £100,000 a time.  No wonder he can afford to have some horses in training!  I'm starting to look cheap at £50 a time!

These new spider silk pyjamas are great - the only trouble is the flies keep getting stuck!  Think about it...
