One Plumpton Runner

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Pontefract and Windsor as well as a jumps fixture from Plumpton.  David has a runner this afternoon as Unanimite contests the 4.30pm race at Plumpton, a 3m1f handicap hurdle.  He has to shoulder top weight of 11-12 but he ran creditably over a similar trip last time out and looks to have decent claims under regular rider Daryl Jacob.  The Richard Johnson ridden Kamool looks to be the one we have to beat.

Sales of the Racing Post will increase today as it is the start of the annual series of jumps trainers' stable tours and David is the first of them.  I wonder how many copies David will be  buying?!  It always makes for a good read and I like to see how many of the write-up's turn out correct several months down the line.

Ruby Walsh managed to complete his set of Grand National victories with success in the American version, winning by just 3/4 length aboard Rawnaq.  He picked up just shy of £143,000 so it was not a bad trip across the pond - now he can pick up a £500,000 bonus if he can win the World Hurdle.  Corals make him a 33/1 chance so I am sure he will have a go at the double.

There is a great football match to look forward to this evening as Liverpool take on Manchester United on Sky at 8pm.  Liverpool are 6/5 chances - both are attacking teams with dodgy defenses so I reckon there should be plenty of goals.  I just have a feeling the Scousers will score a few more so that is where my money will be going.  I wonder if Mourinho will play their captain Wayne Rooney or if he will come on as a substitute?

I loved the scenes between Tony Bellew and David Haye after Bellew's win over Flores at the weekend.  It nearly came to blows and is a good build-up for when they do eventually square up to each other.  Bellew said that he is so confident he would contest a 'winner takes all fight' although I can't see Haye agreeing to that - he is in it soley for the cash and I reckon Bellew is going to put him on his backside.
