Eamon An Cnoic ran out a good winner at Fakenham yesterday under Tom Scudamore. We did benefit from a bit of help from The Blue Bomber who jumped out to his right but jumping is the name of the game. Eamon won in the style of an improving sort and considering he was second in an Irish point-to-point over three miles there is every chance that he will improve over a longer trip too. Meanwhile the runner-up also looks like one to keep an eye on, especially when he goes the other way around. Carqalin looks as though he could do with a little help from the handicapper.
There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Lingfield and Chelmsford City while there are jumps fixtures from Sedgefield and Stratford. David runs Gabrial The Great in the 4.30pm race at Stratford; a 2m3 1/2f handicap chase. He carries top weight of 11-12 less David Noonan's claim of 3lbs. He was a good winner last time out at Uttoxeter and is now 7lbs higher in the weights and he looks to have a good chance once again.
Tom Scudamore goes to Sedgefield to ride where the stable is represented by Kalifourchon in the 3.35pm race - a handicap hurdle of 3m3f. He is an 11/1 chance and while he will need to improve on his most recent efforts, he was a winner first time out and a repeat of that sort of form from only a 1lb higher mark would see him go close. David also saddles Shotavodka in the Durham National at 4.10pm over the marathon trip of 3m5f - he is a 7/1 chance in the Post and is another with decent prospects...let's hope it is a good day for the stable.
We flew to Newmarket in the helicopter yesterday and I don't mind telling you, it was plenty foggy enough for my liking! When we arrived it was good to see plenty of the old faces - the trouble was there were plenty of new faces from overseas too (and they all seemed to have plenty of money to spend).

I was delighted when my little football double on West Ham and Southampton came to fruition last night - it means I can eat again this week! Meanwhile in the Manchester derby United prevailed 1-0 over City and I have to say that it was good to see Jose Mourinho smiling again.
Unfortunately there was trouble after the might Hammers won. Why on earth do you get idiots like that causing trouble? If the ring leaders are caught the punishments must be much harsher to prevent them doing it again. I would send them to prison - it is the only way to deal with mindless fools like this because banning them from the ground is clearly making no difference.
Ronnie O'Sullivan lost in the International Open in China, losing to Michael Holt for the third time in eight months. It looks like Holt has Ronnie in his pocket - I wonder where Ronnie's mind is at at the moment after he stated earlier in the week that he wasn't anywhere near the level he was two years ago and is no longer good enough to compete with the world's best. Ronnie is the most gifted player to ever pick up a cue so I don't buy into that one...it is never dull with the Rocket around!

I was looking into booking a holiday for myself and Mrs Barnes, the trouble is we are limited since I was banned from cruise ships after the whole "poop deck" misunderstanding!
