The stable enjoyed a nice winner at Uttoxeter yesterday afternoon when Mr Burgees ran out a ready winner of the 2m4f handicap chase. He jumped really well in the first time blinkers and had the race won from a long way out despite idling in the closing stages. Tom Scu said afterwards that he was 'lovely' - I think he was referring to the horse! Hopefully the headgear will continue to have the desired effect and if so, he can go on to better things.
There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Ascot, Ayr and Wetherby while there are a couple of flat fixtures from Newmarket and Chelmsford City. The jumps season seems to be well underway now and Dynaste makes his seasonal reappearance in the Charlie Hall at Wetherby this afternoon. Our former Ryanair Chase winner has been an amazing servant down the years and he has been in good form at home, the trouble is it is a £100,000 race and as you would expect, it is fiercely competitive. Apparently old adversary Cue Card is in good order and he looks like the one to beat.
David also has three runners at Ayr today with Mango Cap carrying top weight in the handicap hurdle (less David Noonan's 3lbs claim). He was a winner at Perth on good ground last time and is 4lbs higher this afternoon and has sound prospects once again. We have two runners in the 3.45pm with Top Wood (Michael Heard) and Impulsive American (David Noonan) with the latter looking the more likely of our pair to me. He has been in great form on the flat, over hurdles and fences this season.
It took ages for the judge to decide the winner of the first race from Uttoxeter yesterday afternoon. Eventually it was given as a dead-heat before One Forty Seven was disqualified leaving Cracking as the sole winner for Sue Smith. You can always do with a bit of luck in this game.

The game of the day looks to be Spurs versus Leicester and I will be having a cheeky little double on Tottenham at 4/6 and Newcastle at 3/4.
Just as I said that England don't appear to have a decent spin bowler, Ali goes and takes 5 wickets against Bangladesh...goes to show what I know! Talk about putting your foot in it, now it looks like our batsmen are struggling. We really should be beating Bangladesh with a bit in hand.

I've reached the age where I can't function without glasses...especially if they are empty!
