The flat outnumbers the jumps fixtures again this afternoon as there are three flat cards from Wolverhampton, Redcar and Kempton, while the sole jumps fixture comes from Exeter.  Exeter have done an excellent job and offer nearly as much prize money as the three flat meetings combined.  David is going to be busy this afternoon with plenty of runners at the Devon track with Citrus, Poisoned Berry, Purple 'N Gold, Gary Charm, Skylander and For 'N Against all representing the yard.  We have had another foggy start to the day so let's hope that it clears up on Haldon Hill.

Citrus and Poisoned Berry contest the two mile novices' hurdle at 1.50pm. Bottom weight Poisoned Berry is forecast favourite and will be partnered by David Noonan who takes 3lbs off her back, while Tom Scudamore is aboard Citrus.  The big race of the day is the Haldon Gold Cup which takes place at 2.20pm and we have Purple 'N Gold (pictured above) in the line-up - it is a tough task from 8lbs out of the weights although he should appreciate this sound surface better than most.  Garde la Victoire looks to be the one they all have to beat.

David runs three in the three mile handicap chase at 3.20pm.  Tom Scu is aboard Gary Charm who was running a nice race on his Pond House debut at Cheltenham last month until unseating his amateur rider four from home - he was a prolific winner in France and could surprise a few people.  Michael Heard partners Skylander and Rex Dingle is aboard For 'N' Against.

There was a terrible pile-up at Kempton yesterday involving four horses which has left Freddy Tylicki in hospital.  Champion jockey Jim Crowley has been discharged - let's hope that everyone involved is okay.

I see that Cheltenham racecourse are considering moving the cross country race next week to their New Years' fixture as they need plenty of rain and it is just not forecast at present.  At least they are being proactive and trying to come up with a solution to the problem in good time.

The Melbourne Cup took place in the early hours of this morning with locally trained Almandin just getting the better of the Tony Martin trained Heartbreak City with the former Mark Johnston trained favourite Hartnell back in third.

Apparently England and Scotland have been banned by FIFA from wearing poppies in their World Cup Qualifiers next week.  It just goes to show what a bunch of idiots are running football - they get rid of one lot and then bring in another bunch that are just as bad!  I think I would go ahead and wear them anyway and make the governing body look stupid!  I hope some of you followed me yesterday and had a few quid on Stoke at odds against - I can afford to eat again this week.

Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku is keeping his options open.  Everton have offered him £135,000 a week...I am not sure that I would want to play for them if that is all they have to offer!  It's a mad world.

I would tell you more jokes about sex.  The trouble is, I don't know much about it - I am a married man!  Have a nice day...
