I thought that Tom Scu gave Un Temps Pour Tout a good, positive front-running ride at Aintree on Saturday to land the BTRC Hurdle. Our seven year old ideally wants further than this 2m4f trip so he set a good gallop and this should put him spot-on for the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury in three weeks time. With £18,000 in prize money it was certainly a well worthwhile exercise. Meanwhile Herbert Park was narrowly beaten at Ffos Las yesterday when trying to concede over a stone to the winner so he should be up to winning again before too long.
There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Kempton and Carlisle while there is an all-weather flat card from Newcastle. Although the stable does not have any runners, jockeys Tom Scudamore, Conor O'Farrell and David Noonan (who rode a winner at Sandown yesterday) have all picked up outside rides at Kempton - having said that, I think they might be struggling to find a winner today.
There was some sad news yesterday when it was reported that three time Cheltenham Festival winner Vautour had to be put down after being found in a field with a broken front leg. He had won ten of his sixteen starts and over £600,000 in prize money...a great loss to the racing industry.
I see that David is in the Monday morning jury in today's Racing Post...I have found him guilty!

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said that Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling refused to play at Swansea and are not fit to wear the team shirt. That will certainly go down well with the side, even though United prevailed 3-1. It is certainly getting interesting at Old Trafford. The result of the weekend however came from Liverpool as they beat Watford 6-1 to go top of the Premier League - they look very good indeed going forward.
Surely Donald Trump cannot be elected President of the United States? He looks like a complete nutter to me - I have never bet on politics before but I can't believe that anyone could elect him and so I have had a little wager on Hillary Clinton at 11/5.

It is time for the thermals to come out! It is very cold down here in Brixham - it was only 3°c, although that probably isn't very cold to the rest of the country!
