Poisoned Berry put up a good performance to win her first race over hurdles yesterday at Exeter under David Noonan.  Our four year old won the novices' hurdle by an impressive eleven lengths and it looked as though the rain softened ground may have helped her.  She only carried 10-4...let's hope the handicapper remembers that!  Although she is not the biggest, she is certainly tough and has a good attitude and may be even better going the other way around.  I bet part-owner Keith Webb was hosting a party at his put in Exmouth last night - he loves his racing and certainly knows how to celebrate!

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Towcester and Ludlow while there are all-weather flat cards from Southwell and Chelmsford City.  David runs Houston Dynimo at Ludlow and Tobacco Road and Bella at Towcester.  Houston Dynimo has been a great servant to the yard and he takes in the amateur riders handicap hurdle where he is partnered by Rex Dingle.  He is well-weighted from a mark of 94 as he has won chases from 122 although at the age of 11 he has not shown that sort of form for a while.

Onto Towcester and Tobacco Road ran a better race when third at Bangor last time out and a reproduction of that effort would give him every chance (especially as he is 3lbs ahead of the handicapper today).  Meanwhile, Bella takes in the qualifier for the mares' challenger series over 2m3f and she has top weight of 11-12 to carry.  That looks plenty enough to me and she could probably benefit from a bit of help from the handicapper.  Both of our Towcester runners are ridden by stable jockey Tom Scudamore.

I did my money on the US Presidential election yesterday.  I wonder if the bookmakers are going to offer prices on the first country that President Trump upsets?  It could be his own...there are plenty of protests in America at the moment.  How do these pollsters keep getting the results so badly wrong?  That is the General Election, EU Referendum and now the US Presidential Election that they have all got spectacularly wrong.

My cricket bet on Joe Root to be England's top scorer in the first innings of their test match against India is still looking okay.  England have made a good start and it could have messed up the people who backed India to win all five tests.

There is some good football to look forward to tonight with Brazil 11/10 to beat Argentina and Paraguay who are 4/5 to beat Peru...I will be having a cheeky little double.
