There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from our local track at Taunton and Towcester, while there is an all-weather flat fixture from Chelmsford City. David runs Impulsive American in the 1.45pm race at Taunton, a 2m7f novices' chase in which he carries 10-12. The big question as far as I can see is whether he will stay the trip - the Post make him a 12/1 chance but he should certainly find things a bit easier than at Cheltenham last time out. Stable jockey Tom Scudamore takes the ride. Meanwhile Conor O'Farrell and David Noonan have also picked up some outside rides.
David and Martin are up at the Dorchester in London today for the annual Sir Peter O'Sullevan Charity Fundraising Awards. I understand that the after dinner speaker is going to be impersonator Rory Bremner. Rory does a fantastic impression of the late, great Sir Peter and it should be an enjoyable afternoon. This year Newmaket trainer John Gosden is the latest to be honoured with the award. I have been to the ceremony before and heard Michael Morpurgo (writer of the novel Warhorse) do the after dinner speach and he was brilliant.
I was at the yard yesterday morning and Tom Scu was down to school some of the horses. I saw him jump about ten horses including Hennessy hopeful Un Temps Pour Tout who jumped three plain fences and three open ditches. He was very good...I am talking about the horse rather than Tom!
There is a big article in today's Racing Post about Oaksey House in Lambourn. I was shown around the facilities with Martin only recently by Sir A P McCoy and they do an amazing job there. The government really should get involved and help to subsidise the operation...it annoys me that so much money is wasted on trivial matters when good causes get overlooked.

Manchester City managed to earn a draw last night which sees them through to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Meanwhile Arsenal drew 2-2 with Paris St Germain which means they will finish runners-up in their group and will thus face tougher opposition in the last sixteen.
I was listening to Heart FM on the radio the other day. Why is it that the presenters like the sounds of their own voices so much? I thought most people tuned in to the radio to listen to music rather than someone babbling on!

If snow is made of water and water has no calories, how come snowmen are always fat? Have a nice day...
