There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon with jumping from Carlisle and Leicester. David has one runner with La Vaticane (pictured above) making the long journey all the way up to Carlisle for the 2m4f mares' chase at 1.55pm. She ran a good first race of the season when runner-up at Market Rasen despite being badly impeded at the last and she is entitled to have come on for that outing. She looks to have a great chance under Tom Scudamore.
It looks as though Irish trainer Gordon Elliott wants to win the Troytown Chase at Navan today. Gordon saddles no less than eleven runners in the race - let's hope he has enough time to tack them all up! I wonder if he knows which one is best? Imagine telling the owners which one you think will win...good luck Gordon!
There is a big advertisement in the today's Racing Post for a stallion. I know a few lads in the yard that have already applied, luckily most of the others can't read! Before I get lynched, I am only joking.
I reckon that jockey Chris Meehan must be the unluckiest jockey in the world. You may recall the story of how the Irishman took a nasty fall in a race in Italy and the ambulance that was sent to help him ran over his leg, breaking it! Well, as part of the training regime to get back to fitness he has been using a trampoline. However, a misstep on the apparatus has resulted in him breaking the same leg again - you have to feel for the poor guy.
It wasn't so long ago that Towcester put a greyhound track in the middle of the course and rumour has it that it could now be in line to host the Greydhound Derby next year. That would be a great coup for the track who received plenty of criticism for the new facility at the time of construction. It seems like most of the dog tracks are closing down nowadays and Wimbledon could be one of the next to go. I used to love a night at the dogs and would regularly frequent Walthamstow although sadly that was another track to be shut a few years ago.

I am told that there is some sort of motor race on this afternoon. Lewis Hamilton bids to make it four world championships although he has a mountain to climb as he has to win the race in Abu Dhabi with Nico Rosberg finishing off the podium to succeed.
You can guess where I will be at 4.30pm as Manchester United take on West Ham. Come on you mighty Hammers!
