What an amazing weekend for the stable with Vieux Lion Rouge landing the valuable Becher Chase over the Grand National fences at Aintree in a thrilling finish. Tom Scu rode an absolute blinder to grab the rail after the elbow and force our geldings head in front in the dying strides. He jumped the National fences like an old hand, just as he had in the big one in April and I would imagine that he has booked his return ticket here.
Sadly, following the loss of Ludlow today we are left with just two meetings from Ayr and Lingfield. It is a shame that Ludlow fell to an overnight frost as David was due to have three runners at the meeting this afternoon.
There was an exciting finish to the Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse yesterday with Apple's Jade ending Vroum Vroum Mag's unbeaten run in a pulsating finish. I did say yesterday that I thought that race fitness could be the deciding factor and so it proved.

What an amazing match in the Premiership yesterday between Liverpool and Bournemouth. Liverpool led 2-0 and 3-1 yet still managed to lose 4-3 to a very tenacious Bournemouth side. I keep saying that Manchester United need to get rid of Fellaini and he did nothing to persuade me otherwise over the weekend. He was bought on in the 85th minute and managed to give up a penalty in the 89th. United only drew with Everton in a game they really should have won.
Tiger Woods is now ranked 898th in the world golf rankings. He is better than that having finished the Hero World Challenge at four under par, but he made a lot of mistakes. Japan's Hideki Matsuyama won on eighteen under par - it is a long way back for Tiger and the glory days are well and truly behind him.

Thought for the day...life was much better when apple and blackberry were just fruits!
