There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Exeter and Towcester as well as a couple of all-weather flat cards from Newcastle and Chelmsford City.  David has one runner at Exeter; Thunder Pass (pictured above) who takes in the 2m5 1/2f amateur riders' handicap hurdle at Exeter.  He ran as well as could be expected in a higher grade last time and should find this a bit easier.  The Post have put him in as their second favourite and he will be partnered today by Rex Dingle who takes 7lbs off his back.  Meanwhile, conditional jockey David Noonan has picked up three outside rides at the Devon track and looks to have fair claims aboard Long John in the 2.35pm race.

Stable jockey Tom Scudamore heads to Towcester where he has a picked up a spare ride...I am not sure I would want to be testing the 'one ride' theory today!

David was busy yesterday buying the winner of the Lingfield seller.  He was the successful bidder for three year old gelding Just Pour Nous and I would imagine that a career over hurdles beckons for the son of Derby winner Pour Moi.

I see that it is former Australian champion and Cheltenham Festival winning jockey Jamie Evans' 48th birthday today.  I could tell you some stories about Jamie that would make your hair stand on end and he certainly managed to get me into a bit of trouble once or twice!  Many happy returns mate!

My beloved West Ham were lucky winners against Burnley yesterday.  Noble even had his penalty saved but managed to score on the follow-up.  It is going to be another long, hard winter for us fans!  Three of the top four sides in the Premier League won last night with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City all successful.  As I said yesterday, it is looking like the most open league in years.

The recriminations over the Remembrance Day poppies are still going on and apparently the home teams who sported them could face a fine or have a point deducted.  I think I would tell FIFA to get stuffed!

It is just like the old days in the snooker today with Jimmy White taking on Ronnie O'Sullivan in the Scottish Open.  The Whirlwind against the Rocket - things could get stormy.  Popular as it would be, I can't see Jimmy White having the game to bother Ronnie any more.

The world darts championship gets underway at the Ally Pally today and the winner will bank a cheque for £350,000 early in the new year.  How times have changed...these darts players are treated like rock'n'roll stars nowadays.  I remember winning a dart board when I won the English Open table tennis.  When interviewed afterwards I told them I was going to have to win it again the following year to get the darts...I was suspended for those remarks.  Perhaps I should have taken up darts instead?!
