The staff were treated to an amazing Christmas breakfast on Friday courtesy of the lovely Sue who owns Lady Of Longstone. Sue had been up all night basting and roasting turkeys to bring to the hostel for the staff to enjoy in fresh bread rolls. She also did some sausages, stuffing and pigs in blankets. I am told that the turkey was a real triumph - turkey meat does have a habit of drying out, but not on this occasion, it was lovely and moist. Sadly I missed mine, although if it was anything like the cakes that Sue normally creates, it would have been great. Anyway, as you can see from the pictures of the vultures (sorry, staff!) they thoroughly enjoyed it and there was not a scrap left over.

As David said in his column earlier in the week, even though it is Christmas day there are still plenty of jobs to be done around the stable. The horses still need to be fed and exercised and the Wetherby runner will be leaving quite early tomorrow morning.
*****
I have some terrible Christmas jokes to get you in the Festive spirit...
What do you get if you eat your Christmas decorations? Tinselitis
What did the snowman say to the angry carrot? Get out of my face
Which athletes are warmest in the winter? Long jumpers
You can see which type of Christmas crackers we have in the Barnes household...cheap ones!
Anyway, have a lovely day and we will be back with more news tomorrow ahead of a fascinating Boxing Day card.
