This afternoon there are fixtures from Chepstow and Fontwell and David has runners at both cards. Shaama Grise and Poisoned Berry represent the Pond House team at Chepstow, while Taws runs at Fontwell. Shaama Grise runs at 3.00pm in an eight runner mares' handicap hurdle - she had some decent form in France and looks to have solid claims although this could be a trappy little contest with several winners in the line-up. Poisoned Berry (pictured above) runs in a very competitive handicap hurdle at 4.00pm - she has won twice this season and consequently has plenty of weight to carry. Greyed A looks to be the one we have to beat.
Meanwhile, over at Fontwell Taws makes her Pond House/hurdling debut in the 14 runner maiden hurdle at 1.10pm. She had some good form on the level including when runner-up in the Queen Alexandra at Royal Ascot in 2015. She has an absence to overcome and plenty of the opposition have experience. It will be interesting to see how she fares under Michael Heard. My Khaleesi looks to be the one to beat.
I see that John Terry makes his Chelsea return today as they host Peterborough. What a great player he has been for Chelsea over the years. My mate Harry Redknapp said that he would sign Terry just so the other defenders could learn from him. There are quite a few Premier League sides who need quality defenders.
Liverpool play Plymouth Argyle at 1.30pm this afternoon and the scousers are too short even for me to back at 1/7. I can't see Plymouth winning the match, but at least they should make a few quid from the experience. Maybe I should stick them in a treble with Spurs at 1/3 and Chelsea at 1/5...at least it will give me some interest.
How many more players are going to end up in China? They money the teams are offering is just plain ridiculous and you can quite understand why they would be tempted. Let's hope they soon impose a cap on wages, otherwise it could end up being a Chinese takeaway.
It looks like it is going to be another season of tennis with Murray playing Djokovic. Murray seems to have stepped his game up to another level and it could be that he will come out on top more often than not during the course of 2017.
My local bank wants a 'relationship' with me. I told them I have no interest! Have a nice weekend...
