There are only three meetings taking place this afternoon following the abandonment of Sedgefield due to snow. That leaves us with a jumps card from Huntingdon and a couple of all-weather flat meetings from Lingfield and Wolverhampton. It's a shame that we have lost Sedgefield to the elements as David was set to run new recruit Timeforben who was due to make her debut for the stable in the bumper - still, I am sure she will have other engagements very soon. The box had already left for the long journey north when the meeting was cancelled - the stable now has no runners this afternoon.
There was a little snow in the area around the stables last night although most of it has already been washed away by the rain. It was certainly a lot worse at Chelmsford yesterday where they had to abandon their all-weather fixture - the snow there looked really bad. I am lucky to live near the coast as I have never seen any snow down here in Brixham.
Did you know that if you backed all of David's runners in veterans chases since 2009 you would have shown a profit of £26.08 to a £1 level stake...now I know where I have been going wrong!
The good prize money put on at Newcastle yesterday was rewarded with a quality card of runners. Sadly Newcastle race goers did not support the meeting with hardly any spectators there at all. There didn't look to be any spectators around the bookies pitches and I find it a great pity when organisers have gone to the trouble to put on a decent fixture.

I would love to be rich enough to own my own football team...I would soon whip these spoiled little divas into shape! As soon as a player refused to play I would keep them under contract and make them play for the reserves! The problem is that these days contracts don't seem to mean a thing and it is the player's agent who is in charge.
Rory McIlroy played with a made up set of clubs yesterday and shot a round of 67 in the South African Open. He played with a Callaway driver and irons, Titleist wedges and an Odyssey putter. Maybe he is trying to get a sponsorship deal with all three companies? The course can't be that difficult as 59 year old Nick Faldo shot an excellent round of 70 - it just goes to show that class is permanent.
