There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumping from Chepstow and Musselburgh supported by two all-weather flat fixtures from Lingfield and Wolverhampton.  David has one runner at Chepstow this afternoon as recent course runner-up Shaama Grise (pictured above) bids to go one better.  She runs from the same handicap mark of 114 but is due to go up by 5lbs in future races so looks a worthy favourite.  She ought to win in the hands of Tom Scudamore.

I thought that both of our runners ran well yesterday - Abracadabra Sivola finished runner-up in the Somerset National and was just unlucky to bump into a horse at the top of his form.  He should be able to win from this sort of mark, especially when the emphasis is on stamina.  Meanwhile, Gone Too Far improved on his debut when fourth in the amateur riders handicap chase and he looks as though he would benefit from a slightly shorter trip.

I must say, I was most amused by the post race interview with Sean Bowen after he was asked why Land Of Vic was able to make it four out of four this season at Ludlow - "It must be the easier races here" came the reply...perfect answer!

There was drama at Wincanton yesterday as the roof of the press room collapsed.  Fortunately (or unfortunately, whichever way you like to look at it!) there were no press men in there at the time...I am only joking!  Furthermore, to make matter worse they also had a power cut which left racegoers in the dark.  When the Jockey Club sell Kempton Park at least they should have enough money to pay the electricity bill!

There was a fantastic one day cricket match between India and England.  India score 381 runs from their 50 overs while England scored 381 - unfortunately it means that India win the series...no surprises there then.  It is great entertainment for the spectators, not so great if you are the bowler.

Novak Djokovic was dumped out of the Australian Open tennis tournament yesterday by world number 117 Denis Istomon.  I understand that Djokovic is having some problems off the court - sadly it is showing at present.  Obnoxious Aussie Nick Kyrgios was fined £4,000 for swearing and throwing his racket - I don't quite get the point as that would be like buying a round of drinks for these sportsmen.
