There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action coming from Ludlow and Carlisle, while there are all-weather flat cards from Kempton and Chelmsford City. David runs Twentytwo's Taken and Gone Too Far at Ludlow, while he has a rare runner at Chelmsford with Perspicace. Twentytwo's Taken (pictured above) contests the 2m5f mares' handicap hurdle at 2.40pm and she has to carry top weight of 11-12. She is not badly treated on her best form but has disappointed in three starts this term. Gone Too Far did not shape at all badly at the track last time when fourth, looking like he had gone too far! He drops back in trip today to 2m4f and would not be without a chance. Tom Scu rides the pair. Perspicace is up in trip to 2m on the flat when he contests the 0-70 handicap at Chelmsford. He is lower in the weights today but would need to show more than on his most recent start - Dougie Costello is in the saddle again.
The 4lbs allowance that the lady jockey's in France are receiving has certainly caused a big talking point over here. I don't want to get into the argument (but I will anyway!) - who would you have liked on your horse from the last at Cheltenham; A P McCoy or a lady jockey receiving 4lbs? I will leave it there...

I see that Leicester chairman Vichal Srivaddanaprabha flew 12,000 miles to give manager Claudio Ranieri the dreaded vote of confidence! I wonder if the chairman has his name on the door? If Leicester lose in their FA Cup replay tonight I wonder how much that vote of confidence will be worth? They are currently hovering on the edge of the relegation zone and should they drop, they would be the first side since Manchester City back in the 1930's to drop out of the top tier having won the title the previous season. Even so at 11/10 Leicester look worth a wager to me tonight.
The Voice contestant Jazmin Sawyers is going back to long jumping next week. It is a shame as I thought she sounded pretty good and the chances are, she will make more money from her voice than she will in a sandpit! The problem for her is, she is probably too talented...she finished eighth in the long jump at the Olympics in Rio last year and won a silver medal in the bobsleigh from the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics. Add a law degree and she has a number of different options open to her - decisions decisions!

I was in town the other day and this weatherman walked up to me holding this huge ridge of low pressure. He had some front! Keep smiling...
