There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Wincanton, Musselburgh and Ffos Las while there is an all-weather flat card from Newcastle.  David has runners at Wincanton and Ffos Las today with Arkadios and Instagram representing the yard at Wincanton and Batavir and Duc de Beauchene at Ffos Las.  Arkadios will need to improve on what he has shown thus far to figure, while Instagram returns after a lay-off.  He was a winner over hurdles in France and a mark of 115 does not look out of the way, although he is entitled to improve for the outing.  Batavir (pictured above) carries top weight of 11-12 in the handicap chase less David Noonan's 3lbs claim - a clear round should see him go close.  Our final runner of the day is newcomer Duc de Beauchene in the bumper - he is a nice type and we will know more about him after today.

Champion jockey Richard Johnson is gradually working his way back after aggravating a shoulder injury in a fall at Ludlow and he takes one ride at Wincanton today.  Hopefully he will be back to 100% in time for the Cheltenham Festival.

I see that golfer Shane Lowry is asking A P McCoy if he is still a 14 handicap golfer.  McCoy replied, "No, I'm off 15 now!" - I reckon there must be more bandit jockey golfers than any other sport!

I thought I had done my money last night with Newcastle losing, but with two goals in the final ten minutes they saved my bacon!  Talking of football, how can Leicester seriously be considering Roy Hodgson as a potential new manager?  He is 69 years old now and is well past his sell-by date - his record with England shows that he has nothing new to bring to the table.

I wonder who will play the most reserves tonight, Manchester City or Huddersfield?  The way the managers view the FA Cup, the whole competition is now a complete joke...shame.

I saw a picture of former heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury in a kebab shop the other day - it looks like he has eaten all of the kebabs!  I can't see him ever returning to the ring.
