Not long now until the start of the Cheltenham Festival - the preview nights are done and David was given a good grilling at both Exeter and Taunton last week. People keep asking me what is going to win at the meeting and I wish it was that easy! I did tip up four good priced winners last year, so I will do my best to point you in the right direction this time around: I have backed Neon Wolf (Wednesday), Tombstone (Wednesday), Cantlow (Wednesday) and Unowhatimeanharry (Thursday). I have also had a little interest on The New One for the Champion Hurdle - he is a big price and with a clear round of jumping I can see him making the frame again. The biggest problem with punting on the Festival is that so many of the horses have multiple entries it is difficult to know who will line up where.
I bet that trainer Peter Atkinson is looking forward to Cheltenham. The former pig farmer only has two horses in his care and one of them, Irish Roe is an intended runner in the Champion Bumper - that would be some story if he were to win.
Today we have just two meetings taking place with jumps cards from Market Rasen and Warwick. The meeting in Ireland at Naas has great prize money including a £100,000 handicap chase which looks like a match between messrs Mullins and Elliott - I would imagine the other trainers across the pond are getting a bit fed up with the situation.

I see that Johanna Konta beat Heather Watson 6-4, 6-4 in California. It was the first time our two leading ladies have met in a WTA Tour clash. Having said that, it is no great surprise with Konta now ranked as high as number 11 in the world.
Things could get a bit heated this afternoon as Spurs take on Millwall in the FA Cup quarter finals. The fans don't get along very well and it is quite fair to say that the Millwall faithful don't like anybody. Meanwhile Liverpool take on Burnley in Premiership action - both home teams are too short at odds of 1/6 and 1/4 so I will be watching rather than investing.

I was in the local record shop the other day. I asked the chap behind the counter if he had The Troggs. "How dare you!" he replied...
