Dell'arca runs in the MCP race
Today is the last day of Cheltenham and there are also three other meetings, a jump card at Fakenham and two flat cards at Wolverhampton and Lingfield. David has two runners at Cheltenham, Magie Du Ma and Dell'arca. Magie Du Ma is making her stable debut in the Triumph hurdle at 1.30pm. There are 16 four year olds lining up and we are a big price in the Racing Post. Our filly won on very soft ground at Auteuil and has some very good form in France but this is a big ask for her first run in this country but we do like her a lot and Tom Scu rides. Dell'arca runs in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockey's handicap hurdle with David Noonan on board. He has won on good ground but has been a bit disappointing in his last few runs. He is a former Greatwood hurdle winner however so if her can reproduce his best form he is not without an each way squeak. It looks a difficult day for our two runners but we are delighted to have got a winner on the board this week already.
You can't keep a good trainer down for long! Willie Mullins had a 179-1 four timer. It was also a very good day for Ruby Walsh and I thought he gave Lets Dance a super cool ride. Held up and plenty to do two out he weaved his way through and won with a bit in hand. Ruby is now top jockey with those four winners and Mullins is now just one behind Gordon Elliott in the trainers list. England are 14-7 down in the battle with Ireland!
Guy Disney came into our marquee yesterday and talked about his two wins on Rathlin Rose and he got the biggest cheer and deservedly so. It is Guy's birthday today and he turns 35 so I would like to wish him a very happy birthday from everyone at Pond House.
At 11 years old I think Cue Card can win the Gold Cup for the Tizzard team today. I think he could have the other Tizzard horse, Native River to beat.
There were a few sports people at Cheltenham yesterday. Ian Wright never backed a winner but did enjoy his first Cheltenham and said he will come again. Golfer Lee Westwood was also there but he is already a keen racing man and has horses in training.
Our jockey Michael Heard goes to Fakenham and rides the 6/4 favourite, Sailors Warn in the first race. Good luck to him.
I went to the pub and I said can I have a pint of "Break for Freedom'? The barman said it's run out! Enjoy the final day everyone.
