We have some breaking news with regard to the rescheduled Totesport Gold Trophy at Newbury tomorrow. Ronaldo des Mottes, an intended runner in the race last Saturday before tragedy beset two horses in the paddock before their first race is a non runner. Instead he will run in tomorrow's Bathwick Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton as there is more prize money on offer. Notus de la Tour will be the sole runner from Pond House in the Totesport and will be ridden by Tom Scudamore.

What a result for the Gunners last night! They came from a goal down to beat Barcelona in a thrilling match, although we shouldn't get too excited yet as they will find things tough in the return leg. If Arsenal can break away and score an away goal early they could still win but there are not many sides that score at Camp Nou. Still, it was an excellent result.

It's a hard life! I seem to find myself spending most afternoons sat down watching racing on the television. Anyway, I certainly spotted one for the notebooks yesterday - York Glory. The well backed 9/4 favourite lost his race coming out of the stalls yesterday (in fact he hardly came out of the stalls at all!), and jockey Chris Catlin met with plenty of the wrath of angry punters. Attheraces' orange presenter Matt Chapman jumped to Catlin's defence and I tend to agree with him - I don't think he or any other jockey deliberately misses the break...or am I being a bit naive?! He will win next time out...

I had a brilliant birthday party last night. We enjoyed a great performance from singer and guitarist Drew Millar, and one of my mates Mark Brewer got up and did me proud (Mark is the entertainments manager at Potters Holiday site near Great Yarmouth. Mark is a great entertainer and if you have been to Potters then you will know what I mean.

We had a visit from Nicole Billett last week, who was looking to take a few pictures around the yard to add to her portfolio. As you can see from the following photographs of the horses schooling over hurdles, the results were certainly impressive. As I recall it was a miserable, foggy morning when Nicole stopped by...it is amazing what you can do with a digital camera and computer these days!
