Newbury Try Again

It was a very good job to get last Saturday's Totesport Trophy meeting rescheduled to today at such short notice.  I hope the course is rewarded with a bumper crowd and we are treated to a great race.  My one moan would be that the rescheduled card clashes with a good Sandown jumping fixture...I am sure that plenty of the racegoers would like to attend both meetings but are unable to.  Even so, I would rather have two meetings in close proximity than to lose one altogether.  Over at Sandown, the stable's Arrayan is a non-runner this afternoon.

It is good news that the popular grey gelding Monet's Garden is home at Nicky Richards' Greystoke yard.  When you have a horse that has been in the yard for as long as he has, everyone gets very attached.  The thirteen year old looks well in the photographs from today's Racig Post and the staff all look really pleased to see him back - these horses really do become a part of the family and in some cases they are better than the mother-in-law, sorry, I mean most cases!

I was quite amused to read the piece about Katie Walsh.  When asked who her racing hero is, she replied "My dad.  He is like an elephant, he never forgets a thing".  I reckon that David probably knows exactly what Katie is talking about!
