Watering the Gallops
Today we have six meetings, flat cards at Chester, Lingfield, Ascot, Ripon and Nottingham plus a jumps card at Market Rasen. David has one runner, Tobacco Road in the last race at Chester, 5.05pm. This is a 1m4f apprentice handicap and he had a run back on the flat last time at Leicester and he was only beaten just over 10 lengths. Hopefully he will be a little sharper for that run and he has a good jockey on board in the shape of Alistair Rawlinson, he is 20/1 in the Post and he could surprise a few people. Tom Scu and David Noonan both have rides at Market Rasen.
I hope you all read my blog yesterday?! I did say Aidan O'Brien would have a good day and I did back all three of his winners. He also had the first three home in the Chester Vase. For once I agree with Matt Chapman in the fact I did think that The Anvil was given the strongest of rides in the Chester Vase. He was only beaten just over 1 length into third and I think he is one to keep an eye on.
According to the Racing Post there was no bid on the winner of the seller at Worcester yesterday but in fact Sheila Lewis will now be the trainer of the winner Lakeshore Lady. David Bridgwater was happy to let her go at the auction but the Post man must have been in the bar!
Manchester United got a draw at home to Celtic Vigo last night so they are through to the Final of the Europa Cup 2-1 on aggregate. There were two players sent off and then former Man City player John Guipetti missed a sitter for the visitors. It was all happening at Old Trafford last night!
I was watching the golf players championships yesterday and I saw American Mark Hubbard on the 11th hole. He was pitching a ball into the green and you could see an alligator lurking nearby. He hit the ball into the jaws of the green and not the alligators! The course looks set up really hard and there are some big slopes. it was good to see Ian Poulter in good form and he shot a level par 72. He was just 8 inches from the hole at the famous Island hole at the 17th.
Russian Roulette - you win some, you lose one! Have a nice day.
