Quiet Wednesday

Today we have five meetings, flat cards at Beverley, Nottingham, Ayr and Kempton plus a jump card at Cartmel.  David does not have any runners today.  Last night Sweettoothtommy finished third but he was beaten a fair way. He should drop a few more pounds though which should help for the future.  I thought Arkadios was running a cracker but he messed the last two hurdles up which definitely cost him a place at least.  He surely has the ability to win a race.  Rod's Dream finished third in the bumper on his racecourse debut.  I thought this was a good first ever run on a racecourse and he can only improve with experience.  The horse with experience in the race, the Philip Hobbs trained Horse Force One won the race.

David is off up to Cheltenham today to have a look at the horses that will be going through the sales ring tomorrow.  If anyone would like any details about how to get involved in racehorse ownership please give the office a ring on 01884 840715.

Did anyone see Frankie Dettori on Loose Women yesterday?  They questioned him, horses or humans?  Horses was his answer, they can't argue back!  I loved the question, snog, marry or avoid and the options were Clare Balding, John McCririck or a horse?  Let's stick with the horse he said - perfect answer!

I see that Luke Harvey now has a horse in training with Nicky Henderson.  I hope Luke doesn't try and tell Nicky how it should be ridden!  Luke only had one ride for MCP and it won!  MCP never put him up again to keep his 100% record.  His one win came when we could not find another jockey, we were that desperate that even I was considered!

I did tell you months ago that Arsene Wenger was never going to leave Arsenal.  It looks like it will be announced today that he is staying another two years.

Jo Konta lost in the first round of the French Open tennis yesterday.  She will now start playing on the grass again and she is much better on this surface.  She said " my arse is going to be sore for the first few days getting low down on a consistent basis".  I was so shocked when I heard her say this!

We don't need a dinner bell in our house, we've got a smoke alarm!  I could be in trouble if Mrs Barnes reads this!  Have a good day.
