There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Ayr, Ripon and Windsor as well as a jumps card from Worcester.  David has two runners at Worcester; Three Star General and Chic Theatre.  Three Star General (pictured above) contests the 3.35pm race, a 2m4f brush hurdle qualifier.  He won on this track on good ground last time out by 4 1/2 lengths and the runner-up has franked the form by winning subsequently and he looks to have a good chance of following-up.  Chic Theatre goes in the 2m handicap hurdle at 4.40pm.  He is not badly handicapped on the best of his form although he can be a bit in and out.  Tom Scudamore is aboard both of our runners today.

We had two runners at Market Rasen yesterday and they both finished second.  Kalifourchon ran a cracker in the handicap hurdle and should be going one better before long while Magie du Ma was also runner-up on her chase debut.  She was pretty worked up before the race and will certainly have learned plenty for her first try over the bigger obstacles - I don't think some softer ground would go amiss either.

I always think that when trainers bring their horses over from Ireland they are worthy of closer inspection.  John McConnell brought over four horses yesterday and had three seconds before Nothing To Lose won the last - that was a well-named horse if ever there was one!

There was a great result to the first Test match between England and South Africa as England recorded a 211 run victory.  Moeen Ali took six wickets as England bowled out the South Africans for just 119 in the second innings.  England looked completely different class and I hope a few of you joined me in backing the home side to win the series.

Andy Murray and Jo Konta have both been backed to give Britain a historic Wimbledon double.  There is still a long way to go before that comes to fruition as they play in the fourth round today.  Murray is 1/10 to win his match, while Konta is a 4/11 chance to advance - they both ought to be good enough today.

Wayne Rooney says that he has been wearing his Everton pyjamas for the last thirteen years.  No wonder he hasn't scored very often!

Finally, a thought for the day...birthdays are good for you.  Statistics show that people who have the most live the longest!
