We are expecting a visit from former snooker world champion John Parrott tomorrow, so I dare say that the snooker cues will have been dusted off and at the ready for Monday night! I would have thought I would still be favourite to beat John at ping pong, although MCP is quite handy too so we may have a little bit of Pipe v Parrott. It should be a good night and I will let you know the results on Tuesday morning - if I have sobered up in time!...

Having given his position some thought following the news that Michael Jarvis is to retire from training, I see that jockey Philip Robinson is going to ride for Clive Brittain this coming flat season. Robinson and Brittain are both veterans of the game and there will certainly not be a more experienced jockey/trainer combination out there this season. Clive says that he has assembled his strongest team ever for the coming season so there could be a few surprises on the level this season.

There is a good day's racing at Fontwell this afternoon featuring their richest day's racing of the year which will include the National Spirit Hurdle - a race that we won in 2008 and 2009 with the ever popular Lough Derg. As well as the racing, there are other activities for the family, including a birds of prey display and pets corner.
It is good to see the tracks making an effort to get people to go racing. I see that some of them are giving a special 2 for 1 concession on admission badges - Huntingdon are doing this next Sunday and you can pre-order your tickets on 08445 793007. It's a good idea and I hope they are rewarded with a good crowd for this initiative. Exeter did the same thing a couple of weeks ago and they had a great turnout.

I see there are another couple of number plates being advertised for sale with racing connotations. NO 1 ODDS asking price: offers over £50,000, and FI7LLY offers of £50,000! £50,000 sounds like an awful lot of money to me just so you can pose around in your car - still I am sure that someone will want them.
