Mamlook was a good winner at Sandown yesterday under Danny Cook. It was great to see him return to winning ways after slightly dissapointing at Exeter last time out which can perhaps be explained by the ground being a little too soft last time. He travelled and jumped well and secured his second win over the larger obstacles. Mamlook is a fantastically versatile horse winning top races on the level and over hurdles and he now appears equally as good over fences. He is not entered at Cheltenham but could have an entry at Aintree as well as some of the top staying races on the flat over the summer.
I feel very sorry for young jockey Hadden Frost who has been replaced on Somersby by Robert Thornton who will ride him in the Queen Mother Champion Chase. Hadden has ridden Somersby in all of his three races so far this season and does not appear to have done much wrong but we have to remeber that the final decision rests with the owner and trainer and they have opted for the more experience Choc.
I see they have got dart player Bobby George at Market Rasen today. I just hope that all his gold chains and rings do not shine in the horses eyes and put them off! I see that some of racings old stars will once again be parading at Cheltenham on Tuesday. Among them is former Pond House Champion hurdle winner Make a Stand. Remember he went from winning a claimer at Leicester to winning a Champion hurdle and to be honest I am not sure that this feat will ever be done again, do you?! Only two more nights sleep until the Festival gets underway and I can't wait!
