This time next week our old friend Gino will be getting our breakfast ready before we fly off to the Grand National.  Gino and Jeanette have played host to myself and David for the last few years now during the Grand National meeting and I'm hoping that we don't wear out our welcome this year.  It is always a great atmosphere at Aintree and I am getting goosebumps just thinking about the big race - I can't wait!

Today is what I consider to be the real start of the flat racing season.  We have the Lincoln and the Brocklesby - the Lincoln is one of the big handicaps of the season, while the Brocklesby was always the first race for two year old's.  Now three of the runners have already run, while Redair has already won!  It is a massive advantage if you have a run under your belt so I would imagine that one of the newcomers will have to be pretty smart to win.

I had a phone call from the yard yesterday to tell me that Gemma (in the office) was going up to West Ham today to see Manchester United lose to the Hammers!  Gemma is a big United fan (another one that has never been to Manchester in her life!) and it will be a long sad drive for her to Somerset this evening!  Could someone please tell me why Manchester United have so many supporters who have nothing at all to do with Manchester?  I may be biased but at odds of around 7/2 I reckon the Hammers look interesting.
