Poor old Tom Scudamore - he is facing around four months on the sidelines after turning a somersault aboard the David Bridgwater trained The Giant Bolster at Aintree. He visited a specialist earlier in the week and scans were taken on his dislocated shoulder which showed that unfortunately he will require surgery. I say poor Tom, but maybe I should be saying poor Lottie (that's Tom's wife)...I hope she doesn't decide to breed any more pigs - last time she had Tom chasing around trying to catch them and the last thing he needs now is to fall over chasing them and "crackling" something else!

There is obviously some money flying around Donald McCain's yard after Ballabriggs' win in the Grand National. At yesterday's Cheltenham sales, Donald bought a point-to-point winner for £160,000. The horses in question won a four year old maiden point at Kirkstown - he's called Dannanceys Hill...all I will say is good luck to the new owner.

Watching some of the early action from the new flat season, it occurred to me that some of Henry Cecil's horses are looking like they are in need of the run. Midsummer Sun and Specify Gravity both ran stinkers yesterday at Newmarket and looked as though they could have been short of work. Earlier in the week someone had a £550,000 bet on Henry's superstar two year old Frankel for the 2,000 Guineas with Victor Chandler...I bet that same punter is starting to sweat a little now!
