All eyes today will be on the 3.10pm race at Newmarket. The Henry Cecil trained Frankel puts his unbeaten record on the line again this afternoon in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas. He has won all four starts in good style and even though he seems to be quite keen early in his races he still seems to have the gears to quicken up at the end of the race which is most impressive. We do need another superstar horse for racing so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he wins this afternoon. There are 13 runners in the race and they have won 27 races between them. Fury from the Haggas yard is also unbeaten and so is Pathford coming over from Ireland. It looks a fantastic race in prospect and I for one will be tuning in to watch it this afternoon!
David has one runner this afternoon at Uttoxeter. Piraya runs in the 2.40pm race and is returning over hurdles after completeting in the Grand National last time out. If he returns to a bit of form we are hoping he runs well. Piraya is set to carry top weight of 11st 12lb but Conor O'Farrell is in the saddle and takes a valuable five pounds off. Away from the racing there is also a great weekend of football action to look forward to. Arsenal versus Manchester United and Chelsea against Totennham are just two of the highlights so as you can see I will not be venturing too far from the sofa this weekend!
It only happens in fairy stories but then it happened in real life yesterday! What a lovely occasion the Royal wedding was, Princess Catherine looked stunning, the whole day was wonderful to watch and then the aptly named horse of the day Royal Wedding only went and won at Fontwell as well! The horse was sent off at 4/1 and the betting industry has said it has cost them £2 million pounds! Do you remember when Party Politics won the Grand National, 5 days before the Election of 1992?! Sometimes you just have to throw the form books out of the window! Have a good day.
