It is the Pucnhestown Festival this week and our lorry is setting off later today with a few runners to take on the Irish!  Mr Thriller is going to run in the novice's chase on Tuesday while also on the lorry are Battle Group, I'msingingtheblues, Street Entertainer and E Street Boy with their engagements yet to be finalised.  There could be some more runners going over as well so check back here for more new later in the week.  Friday already looks like being a very good card in prospect.  Hurricane Fly will aim to make it 11 wins from 13 starts over hurdles as he takes on Binocular.  I hope the Nicky Henderson trained Binocular is just back to his best form so we see a great race but I am just a little worried he seems to be a bit moody!  Neverthelesss we have a great weeks racing to look forward to and if you are able to make it over to the course it is definetely well worth a visit!

What other sport can you walk around and be so close to real legends of the sport?  At Newmarket yesterday you have Sir Michael Stoute and Henry Cecil, legendary trainers and Frankie Dettori and Lester Piggott, legendary jockeys walking around with the ordinary folk in the crowd, it certainly does not happen in football!  It is another big day at Newmarket today with the 1,000 Guineas the feature race.  It looks a very open race but I think the French raider Moonlight Cloud has to be taken very seriously.

Chester racecourse report that the County stand is sold out for ladies day on Thursday for their May meeting this week which starts on Wednesday.  There is nothing like being in the middle of Chester racecourse on a sunny afternoon with a glass of champagne in your hand.  Last year David of course had a fantistic win in the Chester Cup with Mamlook.  The plan is once again to go for the race with winning jockey Richard Hughes in the saddle once more.

If you are going to the Warwickshire point to point today you have a real treat in store as Gold Cup winner Long Run will be parading.  Have a good Sunday everybody!
