Another day, another victory for race planning!   There were six flat meetings on the turf yesterday and two jumps cards today...am I the only one who thinks that this is unbalanced?  Surely it would make sense to have three flat meetings and a jumps card on each day?  It seems too simple...or maybe that's just me?!

If you don't fancy racing under rules, there is a point-to-point fixture at Bratton Down today and pony racing kicks off the action at 11.45am with the pointing starting at 1.00pm - Bratton Down is eleven miles north of South Molton on the A399 and is often worth a visit.

I see that Stratford have also tried to follow this initiative and mix things up a bit - they have two big Hunter Chase finals on this Friday and then they follow-up with camel racing!  Some of the creatures that I bet on will probably be in the camel races...no wonder I have always got the hump!

Cartmel Post Office are getting in on racing sponsorhip and are supporting the first and last races at their card next Saturday.  The shop produces the famous sticky toffee pudding, and I can still remember having some when I was last up there in the 80's!  Sadly it is only a memory now as I am diabetic - it's a lovely memory though!

We are on our way to Wembley, well Manchester actually!  The Hammers may be down (but not out!), but the Gulls of Torquay are through to the play-off finals having beaten Shrewsbuty 2-0 on aggregate (having drawn 0-0 with them in the second leg last night).  "We are on our way to Manchester" doesn't quite have the same ring to it, does it?!
