I am sure that the viewing figures for tonight's football match at Wembley between Manchester United and Barcelona will be huge. Hills still make Barcelona 11/10 shots to win it all in 90 minutes and if the match were played elsewhere in Europe I am sure they would be odds-on - I think the United fans are probably holding up the Spanish team's price. I won't be able to see it live as I will be at a birthday party...there is only one person I know that would have a birthday party on the same night as the Champions League Final!
I am not saying who it is, although he will be 65 and once asked how many goals Peter Shilton had scored! Furthermore, he also told Brian Robson that it was lucky that his father Bobby was England manager! Yes, he is lousy with his football, but the person in question could certainly train racehorses...I will leave you to work out who I am talking about and reveal the answer tomorrow (when incidentally, it is his birthday).

There is jump racing from Cartmel this afternoon and if you are in the locality I would certainly recommend a visit. It's completely unlike any other racecourse in the country - the town seems to come to a complete standstill when there is a meeting on and the whole place adopts a carnival atmosphere. You only see half the race as the runners disappear behind trees and almost seem to be running through people's back gardens, but it is great fun. The only thing is, there is a good chance that you will get your car stuck in a lane and you will not be able to move!

John Dunlop opens his Arundel yard up for charity tomorrow from 10am until 1pm. I am sure that it will be interesting for visitors to see how a top flat yard is run - John has had some great horses down the years including great fillies Shadayid and Salsabil. What is more, Arundel is a lovely place to visit...
