Congratulations to David on achieving the notable milestone of 500 winners when Bold Perk bolted up at Hereford yesterday afternoon under Conor O'Farrell.  It is very good going after only five full seasons with a training licence so well done to him.  Bold Perk won by nineteen lengths without Conor having to get too serious and I wouldn't be too surprised to see him turned out again before the handicapper can exact his revenge.

I see that there is a filly running today owned by Her Majesty The Queen called Hopscotch.  Her Majesty bred another filly of the same name that finished up being trained by Martin that ran in the ownership of the Pipe-Scudamore Racing Club.  The Pipe trained Hopscotch won an incredible eleven races during her novice hurdling campaign including the Grade One Finale hurdle at Chepstow.  If the new Hopscotch wins half as many races for Her Majesty I am sure she will be delighted!

What a great performance from Rory McIlroy to win the US Open by eight shots and in the process move up to number four in the world rankings.  The young Irishman shot a record 16 under par score...I bet there were some celebrations in the Congressional last night!

Today sees the start of Wimbledon at the All England Tennis Club so that means we have a lot of rain to look forward to.  I have only been the once and I was amazed at the size of the place - if you watch it on television it looks enormous, but really it is quite small.  Having said that, I did spend most of my time undercover (a bit like the courts)!  I was surprised to see that there has been support for Andy Murray to win the title - I know there is always going to be some patriotic support for the home players, but I think that he is just unlucky to be around in an era when there are two of the finest players of all time around.  On a good day he is capable of beating any player, but to have to do it twice during the course of a tournament is asking an awful lot.
