I saw a nasty incident at Brighton yesterday involving lady jockey Hayley Turner. She nearly sent the 3lbs apprentice aboard Triggerlo through the rails when going to the stands' side aboard Mary Gold when her mount wasn't far enough clear. Personally I think that she was lucky to get away with just a three day ban. The moral of the story...you don't get up Hayley Turner's inside that easily...you know what I mean!

I notice that the Arab racing is getting ever more competitive and yesterday's race at Newbury saw the finish fought out by horses ridden by Ted Durcan, Tadhg O'Shea and Martin Dwyer - all fairly good jockey's!

Looking at the ladies tennis at Wimbledon, I find it difficult to believe that Serena Williams can come back from an eleven month layoff only a week before the tournament starts and be one of the favourites to win the title. Is the state of ladies tennis that weak? There cannot be many sports where you can have that amount of time off and win one of the biggest tournaments in the world. I think that if I had been a woman or had a daughter, I would be playing tennis at a very early age although I would not let the Lawn Tennis Association get involved - the amount of money they have wasted over the years would keep a small country going! You don't see many scouse girls playing tennis do you?...I wonder why?

It has been a horrible morning here this morning with heavy downpours, so it is just as well that David took the camera down to the gallops yesterday to get the following shots of the horses during exercise. He managed to capture a couple that are yet to make their Pond House debuts, Alsalaal and Stef And Stelio, as well as Grey Dream and Choumakeur working upsides.
