Well, following yesterday's abandonment, Chelmsford are once again unable to race due to a frozen track.  They will have to change the description from all-weather racing to most-weather racing.  That leaves us with a couple of all-weather flat fixtures courtesy of Lingfield and Wolverhampton.  It's not exactly Christmas is it?  Still, it is better than having no racing on and ITV 4 will be covering some of the races from Lingfield.  Unusually, David has two runners on the flat at Lingfield today;  Ranco and Sans Logique who contest the 1m4f handicap at 11.45am.

Ranco has finished in the frame in juvenile hurdles this season and was a dual winner on the level in France at 1m2f.  He would need to improve on his most recent outing on the all-weather but he receives weight from all of his opponents and is partnered by promising apprentice Callum Hutchinson who takes an additional 7lbs off his back.

Sans Logique has a similar profile to Ranco having won on the flat in France and been placed over hurdles this season.  He would also have to step-up on his most recent effort to figure here but he is also at the foot of the weights and is partnered by Luke Catton who has ridden winners for us on the level and claims a handy 5lbs.

The only chance of any jumping this afternoon comes from Naas in Ireland, although they have to pass an early morning inspection.  It's the same story tomorrow at Exeter where we are due to have runners.  They are inspecting at 8.30am and the forecast for tomorrow is for warmer temperatures and rain - the question is whether it will come too late.

There are four Premiership football matches to look forward to this afternoon, including a couple of crackers, namely between Leicester and Liverpool and Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

India have made a good start to the second Test match against England.  Rallying well after an early loss, they are 164-3.  A good first innings total was key to England's victory in the first match so they will be keen to take a couple of quick wickets.

There is also the small matter of the Six Nations rugby today with England playing Italy at Twickenham.  England were trounced by Scotland last weekend, beating England at home for the first time in 38 years.

I was in the supermarket the other day and I noticed a man and a woman wrapped in a barcode.  I asked them, "Are you two an item?"!
