There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Wincanton and Musselburgh and two all-weather flat fixtures from Lingfield and Kempton.  It is amazing how quickly the ground dries out, even after just a short dry spell.  The ground at Plumpton on Monday was good/firm in places whilst today's cards are both good in places.  The going at Newbury ahead of this weekend's fixture is already good (good/firm in places) and incredibly there is even the possibility of the track watering!  We have had a damp start to the day at Pond House so we will see whether that will be necessary.

Although there are no runners from the Pond House team today, there are plenty of runners on the Wincanton card with fields of 15, 16 and two of 17 - good luck if you are trying to win the placepot there!

We will be back with runners at Taunton tomorrow where Paricolor will be bidding for a fifth success of the season.

Manchester City made no mistake as they beat Wolves 4-1 last night, courtesy of three goals in the last ten minutes of play.  That now puts them 15 points clear at the top of the table with the opportunity to extend that yet further when they play second placed United at the weekend.

There are three Premiership matches taking place this evening with Burnley hosting Leicester, Sheffield United taking on Aston Villa and Crystal Palace at home to Manchester United.  That looks like three away wins to me...you had better avoid that little wager like the plague!

There was to be no fairytale return for seven-times world snooker champion Stephen Hendry as he was beaten 4-1 by Matthew Selt in the opening round of the Gibraltar Open yesterday.  Hendry, who retired in 2012 did knock in a fluent century break, but that was the highlight of the match for him.  Mark Williams, Mark Selby and Kyren Wilson were among the big names to make it through to the next round.

I have a friend who's fallen in love with two school bags.  He's bi-satchel!

I went to the paper shop this morning.  Unfortunately when I got there, it had blown away!
