There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Worcester and flat fixtures from Hamilton, Leicester, Chepstow and Epsom.  David has one runner today; Dock Of The Bay who contests the 2m7f novices' hurdle at Worcester at 8pm.  He produced a very good first effort for the stable when a narrow runner-up on his hurdling debut at Fontwell in May before disappointing at Uttoxeter last month.  He has undergone wind surgery since then and hopefully that will help him.  Conditions should suit and a reproduction of his first run would give him each-way prospects under Tom Scudamore.

Pasqualita was disappointing in the mares' novices' hurdle at Uttoxeter yesterday afternoon.  She travelled well and jumped very nicely for her first attempt over timber but her effort petered out very quickly in straight.  A winner on the flat in France only last month and Germany prior to that, she is obviously better than this and I am sure David will get to the bottom of it.  There will be other days for her.

What a performance from Hurricane Lane to land the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp last night by six lengths.  Godolphin's Irish Derby winner looks to be thriving at present and it would be no surprise to see him turn out to be the best of the three year old generation over 1½miles despite only finishing third at Epsom.  The softer ground clearly suited him very well and he will remain difficult to beat and looks an ideal Arc type (run over course and distance).

Don't forget to book up early if you would like to join us for National Racehorse Week in September.  We are pleased to be supporting the event by opening the doors to the famous Pond House stables where visitors will get a chance to look around, meet the horses and staff where amongst other demonstrations you will see them in action on the gallops.  Numbers are strictly limited so you will need to register your interest quickly by visiting the NRW official website: https://nationalracehorseweek.uk/yard/david-pipe/

The British Open Golf is already underway this morning and whilst my predecessor was a fan, I'm afraid I am not so much.  I did try my hand at golf many years ago, but the difference between a driving range and a bucket of golf balls is very different to actually getting on the course!

As you will be well aware by now, I prefer my sporting thrills to be a little more high octane and will be looking forward to the British Grand Prix this weekend.  For the first time ever there will be two races.  Qualifying will take place tomorrow for a 'sprint race' which will be about 1/3rd the distance of a traditional Grand Prix and the result of that will decide the grid for the main race on Sunday.

Why shouldn't you drive a mini over a cliff with three violins in it?
You could fit in at least one more!
