There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Bath, Catterick, Lingfield, Leicester and Sandown.  Unsurprisingly the recent sunny spell has meant that the ground has dried out significantly with the slowest ground reported being good, good to firm in places.  There is no watering system at Bath so it is no surprise to see their going reported as firm.  David has no runners today, although we are back tomorrow with a runner on the flat at Sandown and over the sticks at Worcester.

The pick of today's action comes from Ireland where Naas hosts a card that features a couple of Listed contests, the second of which is for juveniles over 5f.  Johnny Murtagh's filly Ladies Church showed considerable improvement from her first start to her second and if she progresses again she could prove a spot of value against the favourite.

The National Racehorse Week initiative has obviously proven to be an extremely popular idea as I notice that David's Open Day in September is already fully subscribed.  Don't worry though, if you have always wanted to take a look around the famous Pond House stables there is another way...members of the David Pipe Racing Club also get a stable visit as part of their membership and there is a date already in the diary.  If you would like to be a part of the fund you can find out more by clicking here...

The Olympics officially get underway this weekend, although if you are impatient you can get your fix with the women's football today.  Great Britain begin their medal campaign as they take on Chile.

England's cricketers completed a T20 series success over Pakistan last night at Old Trafford, beating their rivals in a to and fro match by three wickets with only two balls to spare.  The series win will certainly give the team confidence with the T20 World Cup taking place in October.

I don't need to tell you how hot it has been.  I bought a ceiling fan the other day. What a complete waste of money...he just stands there applauding and saying “Ooh, I love how smooth it is."
