Lady Reset (pictured above) produced another tremendously game performance to land the 1m2f handicap at Sandown yesterday afternoon under Laura Pearson.  Striking first in the straight after racing prominently, she stuck on in really well in the closing stages to see off all of her rivals to secure her third win on the flat over the summer.  She has also won over hurdles this season and continues in great form and will surely be kept on the go whilst the ground remains suitable.  I thought the Racing Post's comments were a little unjustified, suggesting she was 'not an obvious sort to go in again'...she has gone in four times already, what more does she need to do?!

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Doncaster, Chester, Bath and Musselburgh and an all-weather flat fixture from Lingfield.  Of course, the big meeting of the day comes from Doncaster where the final Classic of the season, the St Leger takes place at 3.35pm.  The race looks at the mercy of Hurricane Lane who won the Irish Derby before bolting up in a Group 1 in France last time.  Even so, he is very short in the market and there has to be some value elsewhere.  Progressive Ottoman Emperor had a couple of these behind him at Goodwood last time and could reward each-way support.

India won (?) the test series against England after the final match was sensationally cancelled owing to a Covid outbreak in the visitors camp.  The match has been provisionally rescheduled for Summer '22, although presumably the result will not count towards the series...who wants to wait a year for the resolution of that?

Emma Raducanu makes her debut in a Grand Slam final as she plays Leylah Fernandez in the US Open tennis tonight.  The match starts at 9pm British time and hopefully she will be able to go all the way and become the first British winner of a major for 44 years.

Valtteria Bottas qualified fastest for today's sprint race at Monza today, which will set the final grid for Sunday's main race at the Italian track.  The Mercedes is well-suited by the high power nature of the track and looks the class of the field this weekend.  Regardless of result, Bottas will need to start from the back of the grid as penalty for an engine change this weekend.
