It is another lovely start to the morning at Pond House, the nights are much colder and we have some heavy dew's but it promises to be another gorgeous sunny day ahead.  There are no stable runners today but there is jumping action up at Perth plus three flat meetings at Goodwood, Redcar and Kempton.  In Ireland the action continues from the Listowel festival with some competitive looking races.  As is often the case up in Scotland, the Irish look to have strong chances in a few of the races at Perth, which is day one of a two day meeting.  Tom Scudamore goes up there for just the one ride but it is a good one!  He rides the favourite in the 3.35pm handicap chase, Roi De Dubai for John McConnell.  It looks a tricky little race despite only five runners but after winning at Cartmel when last seen in action, Tom Scu looks to have a good chance of grabbing a winner.

Another race I shall be keeping a close eye on this afternoon is also at Perth.  There is an interesting runner in the 3.00pm handicap hurdle, Clondaw Caitlin ridden by Brian Hughes and trained by Ruth Jefferson.  It is only really interesting as this mare beat our horse, Meep Meep Mag in a bumper at Wetherby previously.  We were a little disappointed to be beaten at the time but Clondaw Caitlin has gone on to do very well since and is rated 137 over hurdles.  Meep Meep Mag unfortunately picked up a little injury when she was last in action at Worcester earlier in the summer but has now recovered and is back being exercised.  We won't see her on the track for a little while yet but is one to look forward to a bit later in the season.

I see as part of the Henry Cecil Open weekend at Newmarket there was a trainer commentator challenge.  Trainers who took on the challenge included Simon and Ed Crisford, Tom Clover, Kevin Philippart  De Foy, Harry Eustace, George Boughey, James Ferguson and Danny Archer.  The winner was George Boughey who was crowned 'King of the Callers 2021' while runner up was James Ferguson.  It was a bit of nerve-racking fun for all those who took part but most importantly they raised a nice amount of money for charity.

Talking of charities, we were delighted that our prize raffles held at our David Pipe Racing Club members morning and held on our open morning raised £400 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.  We have already received and thank you letter from the team and it was great to raise some money for a very worthwhile cause.

Why did the M & M go to school?  He wanted to be a smartie!  Have a nice day.
