There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Haydock and all-weather flat fixtures from Lingfield and Kempton.  There are some decent horses running at Haydock today, with the pick of the action the veteran's chase at 2.50pm.  The prize money for these contests are always very good and are consequently well supported by these popular golden oldies.  Meanwhile, on the all-weather, the Listed 1m4f contest at Kempton at 5.30pm features some good types for this time of year, none more so than the Godolphin owned three year old Siskany who has a mark of 111.

There are no runners from the stable today, although we will be back with a couple of runners (both newcomers to the yard) at Wincanton tomorrow so come back then to find out more.

Football fans are in for a treat as there are six midweek Premier League football matches to look forward to, including a fierce local rivalry between Everton and Liverpool.  After a good start to the season, Everton seem to be heading in the wrong direction and will have their work cut out to beat the reds.

The bottom two teams in the league, Newcastle and Norwich, fought out a 1-1 draw last night and with both teams desperately needing the three points for victory, a single point will probably be little consolation to either of them.

More big names fell by the wayside in the UK Open snooker championship in York yesterday with Judd Trump a shock loser to Matthew Selt.  Meanwhile, Northern Ireland Open champion Mark Allen lost in a final frame thriller to David Gilbert and Stephen Maguire was whitewashed by Luca Brecel.  Ronnie O'Sullivan will certainly be rubbing his hands together as he bids for a record eighth title.  'The Rocket' is action this afternoon, whilst Kyren Wilson plays tonight.
