There are three meetings taking place on these shores today with jumps cards from Market Rasen, Wetherby and Exeter.  Unusually, there are no Exeter runners from the Pond House team, although we do have one at Wetherby as Shot Boii (pictured above) contests the 3m novices' handicap hurdle at 4.21pm.  He was a winner on his penultimate start at Ffos Las, form that would give him every chance here, before he was pulled up on horrible ground at Lingfield last time.  The return to a sounder surface should help and he looks to have each-way chances with Tom Scudamore in the saddle.

Miss M fared best of our runners yesterday, finishing third in the 3m handicap hurdle at Southwell, giving members of the David Pipe Racing Club a thrill, whilst Do Ya Feel Lucky was not beaten at all far at Wincanton having cut out much of the running.

The Gibraltar Open snooker championship starts on Thursday and is one of the last tournaments before the World Championships gets underway in Sheffield in less than a month's time and they have a lot of games to get through in just three days.  Many of the top names are there as they complete their preparations ahead of the big one.  Judd Trump won the Turkish Masters last time out and is the defending champion in Gibraltar - he looks to be peaking at just the right time and is my idea of the likeliest winner next month.

A taxi passenger tapped the driver on the shoulder to ask him a question.

The driver screamed, lost control of the car, nearly hit a bus, went up on the footpath, and stopped inches from a shop window.

For a second, everything was quiet in the cab. Then the driver said, "Look, mate, don't ever do that again. You scared the living daylights out of me!"

The passenger apologized and said, "I didn't realize that a little tap would scare you so much."

The driver replied, "Sorry, it's not really your fault. Today is my first day as a cab driver — I've been driving a hearse for the last 25 years."
