It's not your typical Bank Holiday Monday with five meetings taking place this afternoon.  The action comes from Bath, Beverley and Windsor on the flat and Kempton and Warwick over the jumps.  David has two runners today; Lady Reset at Kempton and Iron Heart (pictured above) at Warwick.  Lady Reset contests the 2m mares' handicap hurdle at 4.30pm and she just does not know how to run a bad race.  A good second on her first start back from a break at Newton Abbot last time, she is on the same mark today.  There are several progressive types in the line-up, but she should give her running once again under Tom Scudamore.

Our other runner today is Iron Heart, who contests the 2m handicap hurdle at Warwick at 5.20pm.  He was another to run a good race on a return from a break, collared on the line at Chepstow a fortnight ago.  He is only 1lb higher today and this shorter trip should suit.  It is a wide-open race but he looks to have a good chance under Fergus Gillard.

There were to be no winners over the weekend, but Romain de Senam ran a screamer to finish runner-up in the valuable 3m handicap chase at Uttoxeter on Saturday under David Noonan, rewarding those that had had a bit each-way on him.  Paricolor too, was far from disgraced, finishing third in the 3m handicap chase at Hexham, trying all the way to the line.  Both should be capable of winning something similar before too long.

What a weekend for James Doyle, landing the Guineas double aboard Coroebus and Cachet.  It was the jockey's first Classic success and it was a case of London bus syndrome.  I have always been a big fan of 'The Doyler', although he did me few favours by turning over my ante-post bets on Native Trail!  Luxembourg looked to run a great Derby trial in finishing a staying-on third.

The status quo was maintained in the Premiership at the weekend with both Liverpool and Manchester City scoring.  Meanwhile, Everton did themselves a big favour as they beat a toothless Chelsea side to give themselves a chance of staying up.  There is more Premier League action today with Manchester United hosting Brentford.  It is a game United really ought to win, but they have been far from convincing of late.

Ronnie O'Sullivan looks to be home and hosed in the World Championship Snooker final as he opened up a 12-5 lead overnight.  O'Sullivan looks to be in good form, but that is probably exaggerated by the number of poor misses from Judd Trump.  I know he is under intense pressure to perform, but he never looked comfortable, missing several shots that many average club players would struggle to miss.  There is no doubt that he has the ability to make a match of it, but he needs to come out all guns blazing today.
