Bathwick Man is having an outing on the flat this afternoon at Salisbury. He was a good winner over hurdle at Newton Abbot last week under Conor O'Farrell and is only rated 49 on the level. The handicapper raised him 10 pounds for that win so David thought he would see what he could do in this 1m6f flat handicap. Richard Mullen is on board so we are keeping our fingers crossed that he runs well.
It appears that not only do the horses not like the change of going, (there were 63 non runners yesterday), It also seems the rioters do not like it either!. It rained last night and it turned out to be a lot quieter on the streets thankfully. So there is your answer turn the water cannons on them, or pray that it keeps raining!
My mate in the betting shop keeps going on about the fact that they should not have stopped National service, that would have sorted them out. But I said to him, why does the army need them. It should have been their parents years ago. That was seldom seen Syds opinion. He does not turn up very often that is why he is called seldom seen Syd!
I see that Frankel's brother is in the Racing post Trophy at Doncaster. There seem's to be a fair bit of hype about him but I would always be a little cautious. I played table tennis to a reasonable standard but my brother could not catch a ball and did not have any sporting ability. So what I am trying to say is that it does not always follow that your brother or sister is going to be any good! We Shall see!
The USPGA championship golf starts today in Georgia. I was disappointed to hear there is only $7.5 million in prize money up for grabs! They go 11/1 the field with Rory Mcilroy as favourite. I have had a few quid on D Johnson at 28/1 and R Moore at 125/1. It is the last big major of the year and I will be tuning in to watch. Meanwhile in the cricket India's team look to have no interest in the test match and it looks like they just want to go home! Cricket is the number one sport in India and I am sure they will be getting some stick when they do go home. The Indian people love their cricket and to me it's a bit sad to see how they are playing. It looks like they need some new blood in the team. We must not take anything away from England however. They bowled really well yesterday and it was a good start to the batting innings by Strauss and Crook as well. Watching the weather forecast this morning it looks like Edgbaston should miss the worst of the rain so hopefully there will be a good days play.
