Weekend Jottings

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with the action all coming on the flat from Brighton, Yarmouth and Sandown.  There are only small fields at the first two meetings, although the enhanced prize money for the Sunday Series initiative at Sandown has been greeted by some very competitive cards.  I have said it before, but it is great that ITV continue to support the industry with coverage like this on days when more people can get to see it.  If you fancy tuning in, all seven races are on terrestrial TV with the first race at 3.42pm.  Coverage is on ITV 4.

With the lack of jump racing, there are no runners from the Pond House team today, although we have plenty of entries for  the three jumps cards on Tuesday which need to be declared by 10am today.

There are three Premiership football matches this afternoon with leaders and defending champions Manchester City travelling to Newcastle for a potentially tasty match, although it would be considered a major surprise if there was anything other than a City win.
